Our House System
Here at Barnwood we believe that students' success and happiness is dependent on them feeling supported and that they are part of a team. We believe that our house system encourages healthy competition which gives our students a great sense of community.
There are three Houses: Ennis, Rowling and Parks. The House system was implemented to support the holistic development of students as they learn. Being part of a family allows more progression as students develop their drive and motivation to one common goal: SUCCESS!
In 2013 students nominated their favourite inspirational women to name the three Houses which was followed by a student vote. Since then students have entered competitions to design the logo and motto for each House as well as voting for which local charity they will support in their fundraising activities.
Ennis: ‘Challenge yourself everyday’ Charity: YMCA (Cheltenham)
Rowling: ‘Anything is possible’ Charity: Winston’s Wish
Parks: ‘Dare to be different’ Charity: The Spring Centre
During the year the Houses organise competitions to raise their profile around school. Students are extremely supportive of other students in their House and in turn the feeling of a ‘family’ grows rapidly.
