On Wednesday 1st February a team of five students from Year 7 and 8 attended the South West heat of the UK Robotics Challenge.

The competition was held at the Royal Navy Air Station at Yeovilton in Somerset. The students had to demonstrate their skills in programming a Lego robot to carry out a variety of tasks based around a mission to Mars. They also had to prepare and deliver a presentation about the challenges faced by anyone who wanted to live on the surface of Mars.

Unfortunately they didn’t make it through to the next round this time but the students demonstrated some of the important personal skills needed to be a successful engineer, such as resilience and an ability to work as a team.
