Attendance Update

Attendance update
Firstly, we would like to
say a massive well done to all the students who have an attendance of 96% or above.  Our school attendance target is 96%, and it is fantastic to see so many students determined to achieve this.

We will continue to celebrate attendance through certificates, prize draws, attendance rewards and events in school. This will be for students who not only continue to maintain good attendance but also those students who show improvement in their attendance as we go into terms 4,5 and 6.

Reporting your child absent - a polite reminder
If it is necessary for your child to be off school, a reminder that you must, for safeguarding reasons, contact the school via the attendance line (01452 530389 and select option 1 for attendance). Alternatively, please email attendance at attendance@barnwoodpark.co.uk.
When reporting your child absent, please confirm your child's name, tutor group and the reason for their absence.

Star Students of the Term

Year 7 - Evie Mitchell

Evie consistently has a positive attitude to school and learning. Evie always arrives on time in the correct uniform and gives 100% in every lesson. Well done Evie!

Year 8 - Max Baker

For always being an excellent student, never having an AP and for having a brilliant attendance record. Also, for being a great friend and supporting your peers. Keep up the good work Max.

Year 9 - Hollie Williams

Hollie is a conscientious and hard-working student whose confidence in school has flourished, and she goes from strength to strength. Last term in the Shakespeare Schools Festival she blew the audience away with her performance and has begun this term in the same positive way, with an outstanding performance in the UK Maths Challenge and excellent reports from her subject teachers.

Year 10 - Agshana Varothayan

An outstanding attitude to learning in all subjects. A fantastic achievement in the UKMT and a consistent name on the Sparx Maths leaderboard. Great work!

Year 11 - Hollie Pearse

Hollie is exceptionally hard-working and has embraced every opportunity in Year 11. From her relentless attendance of revision sessions to a fantastic work ethic in all her subjects. Hollie has shown huge determination to be successful this year and beyond.

Homework Celebration

We are very proud of the way students have continued to extend their learning by completing their homework.  Students in KS3 and KS4 are completing more homework than in previous years, the retrieval and consolidation of the work students complete in lessons is paying dividends in the classroom. This has been reflected in the recent assessments in Years 7-10 and Year 11 Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) as part of their preparation for their GCSE examinations.

A recent homework report found that:

For Sparx Maths, Barnwood Park students across Years 7 -11 are spending 36% more active working time than students in similar schools.

For Sparx Reader, Barnwood Park students in Years 7-9 are completing 21% more careful reading than students in similar schools.

For Sparx Science, Barnwood Park students in Years 7-11 are spending 7% more active working time than students in similar schools.

For Seneca, Barnwood Park students in Years 10 & 11 have continued to access assignments and complete homework and have increased their success rate to 77%.

A reminder of the support available in school to support students with their homework:

Year 7 students can attend homework support in DT6 and Years 8–10 students can attend homework support in the Library every lunchtime.

Year 11 students have access to working lunch in J5 as part of the Year 11 Offer.

Homework club runs every day after school until 4pm in the Library for students in Years 7-10.  Year 11 students are able to attend Champion's Hour until 5pm everyday in J5 to help them complete their homework and revision.
