Y10 Geography and Careers Trip

Full CalendarEvents/Trips

This event will take place between 9:00am and 4:00pm on 09/02/2023

We are currently in the process of pulling together an exciting new subject based event around construction and the built environment. The event is being planned in partnership with Kier and UoG, and would feature half a day at UoG doing sessions with academics from their Constructive Environments course and half a day at the Kier site in Gloucester city centre where the old bus station was (https://www.forumdigital.co.uk/the-forum - this is what is now being built there).

The content for both sessions is still currently being shaped but the plan is that it will meet elements of the Geography GCSE curriculum (in particular if you use AQA exam board it would meet the section on 'Urban change in cities in the UK leads to a variety of social, economic and environmental opportunities and challenges'), as well as various Gatsby benchmarks.

It currently has a proposed date of Thursday 9th February 2023 and as one of our key Level 1 Gloucester schools, we wanted to see if this is something that you would be interested in doing? It would be open to a class of 30 – 35 Year 10 students studying Geography GCSE. As the content is still in the planning stages, your Geography teachers are welcome to input into the planning of these sessions with UoG and Kier, if there is anything in particular they would like to see covered.

GROWS would also be able to fund the coach for you.

If you could let me know as soon as possible if you would like to take part in this and then we can progress from there if you are.
