On 13 November 2023, 40 students from Shukutoku Sugamo High School in Tokyo, Japan visited Barnwood Park School as part of their 5 day tour of the UK. They were keen to learn about our culture, the education system and to practice their English language skills. Barnwood Park students across all years put on Dance and Music performances and extended a warm welcome to the visiting students. In return they offered us a taste of their culture, giving presentations about their country, food, and leisure activities; including karate, anime and manga. Our students then had the opportunity to try their hand at Japanese writing, origami, and other traditional Japanese games. This included a blindfolded Japanese Swordfight that saw Mr Fuller as an unwitting ‘casualty’! Our thanks must go to the Cotswold Wind Academy for again organising such a diverse and interesting trip.
