Thank you to everyone who has continued to support Barnwood Park through the school lottery. We are on track to raise in excess of £1600 this year which has enabled us to further improve the outside spaces for the students. We have used some of the money to further enhance the Peace Garden. This was something that was requested from the Year 11 students as this space has a very special place in their hearts and has supported them through their Barnwood Park Journey.
Further to the replanting and replacement bunting that the school lottery funds helped support last year. This year, we have been able to repaint the wooden seating and have purchased a living wall planting system, which, in time should look something like this and will provide a new aspect to the peace garden, which I know all students are very excited about. Thank you to Mrs Dunford, Mrs Stanton and Mrs Adams along with the students from the Gardening club for their continued work on ensuring the peace garden continues to be looked after and tended to.
The rest of the school lottery funds raised this year are being used to fund outdoor gym equipment. Again, this is in response to student voice coming through the student parliament and the need to provide more activities/areas for students to use at break and lunchtime. The outdoor gym will also be able to be used as part of PE lessons and external lettings.
We are hoping that the first phase of gym equipment will be installed very soon.
We know that times are tough for everyone at the moment, so we really do appreciate the support that the tickets you purchase through the school lottery provide for the school. It is also wonderful that the school lottery has directly impacted on a member of our school community who won one of the monthly competitions earlier this year – maybe, next year, someone will be lucky enough to win the £25,000 jackpot!
